Ruth Kadiri Ezerika has disclosed that by nature of African culture, “Omugwo” has always been advocated.
In case some of you are wondering what “Omugwo” is, we will explain it in the simplest way. It is the traditional postpartum care given to mothers. Yes, (after-birth Mothercare).
Truthfully, in Nigeria it is taken seriously especially in Igbo custom because it helps the new mum gather experience from her mother. (Sometimes, her mother-in-law).
However, there are instances when there are disagreements over how to raise the child. This happens between the mum and her mother-in-law just as you see in the Nollywood movie.
In a recent post, Ruth Kadiri asks what should the husband do if his wife and his mum do not agree on the raising of the child.
She wrote;
‘African culture has always advocated for OMUGWO” but what happens when there’s a conflict between a wife and mother Inlaw concerning how to raise a child. What should the husband do.’
