Mary Remmy Njoku has taken to her Instagram page to advise African parents on the type of dolls they buy for kids.
The popular Nollywood actress wants them to normalise buying the ones with Afro hair.
Most black parents are used to buying their kids white dolls which according to some, does not promote their own ethnicity.
Hence, Mary Remmy Njoku wrote;
“African parents need to normalise buying brown dolls with Afro hair for kids.
“This will help remind our children (especially daughters) of how beautiful and unique they are.
White-skinned dolls shouldnt be their standard for Beauty.”

health_nut_mom: “Absolutely ? lack of this, is why majority of Africans bleach their skins due to not presenting our images….representations matters a lot. I see alot of African parents constantly showcasing white dolls to their kids and this makes the kids thinking their dark skin is not beautiful enough.”
its.dinma: ‘Absolutely! I think you meant to write “should not be their standard” ?’
