An eagle-eyed lady known on Instagram as “adaokafoe” has raised eyebrows by alleging that TC Okafor may have already had a connection with Mami Water Worship even before the tragic drowning incident that claimed the life of popular Nollywood actor, Junior Pope, and several crew members. The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, when their boat capsized in the Anam River.
This was made known moments after Yul Edochie shared a post on his Instagram page celebrating TC Okafor. He wrote:
“I celebrate your survival, bro
@tcokafor
I celebrate your life.
You will record countless victories in Nollywood and in life.
May God lead you always & may your ancestors stand by you.”
It was then the Instagrammer made an interesting observation that appeared to suggest that TC Okafor might be more involved with the inhabitants of underneath the river than earlier thought. The Instagram user wrote:
“You see this boy, everyone go to his page and see what he posted on the 2nd of January. This boy knows what happened to his colleagues. Who stands up to ring a bell in the middle of water? He was telling his water goddesses he has arrived.”
On closer look at TC’s page, NollywoodCelebs discovered that the survivor of the boat tragedy was more familiar with mami water worship. Sharing a photo of a mermaid (Mami Water), he wrote on January 2, 2024:
“Let no one pressure you in this 2024
Be proud of your root 🧜♀️🧜♂️💲
#mamaraisedaking👑
Not a prodigal son……”
Even the emojis in the post tells a story. Mind you, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with TC doing this except that he tried to play ignorant. To be fair, he did admit spraying N10,000 and Fanta to ensure he has a safe boat trip. But what about ringing the bell while in the boat? Was he even aware that traditions suggests he shouldn’t even have done that on a market day, according to local beliefs?
Anyway, some fans reacted.
uwu_wuwuxoxo500: “You bought Fanta and poured it into water before the journey started to appease the spirits you say. Same You blocked the captain from seeing the canoe by standing up. The captain claims he didn’t see it coz you blocked. I went to your profile I’m not surprised to see this. You belong to the waters. You sacrificed your colleagues!!!”
otijels77: “No wonder water no fit swallow you ❤”.
