Mercy Johnson Okojie has disclosed that she is deeply humbled by life. However, the Nollywood actress expressed concerns about recent happenings in the Nigerian movie industry. The mother of four is likely referring to the untimely demise of her colleague, Junior Pope, who tragically drowned, along with crew members, when their boat capsized on the River Niger last Wednesday, April 10, 2024.
Sharing on her Instagram, Mercy Johnson wrote:
“Chilling with my Twinny @theokojiekids, #odiwife”
“Life has humbled me so much and with recent happenings, I simply can’t comprehend a lot of things. I wish bad on no one, neither do I want revenge. I just want a lot of people to stay away from me…”
It is clear that the movie star wants to distance herself from a large number of people but still wants everyone to know that she wishes them well.
Who can blame Mercy Johnson? In fact, there are growing concerns that Junior Pope Odonwodo may have had his life cut short by envious colleagues who feel they can’t rise to the top with him around. There are also rumors of a certain actress and her husband who are generally the most disliked people in Nollywood history. This second wife is seen as a ‘Spiritual Mother’ to some up-and-coming actors.
Then, there are the doomsday prophecies about Junior Pope which has come to pass and now, Destiny Etiko’s. Sadly, it is this same Ghanaian seer who predicted Junior Pope’s demise.
This has really troubled Etiko to the extent that she was seen in a video teary while making it clear that God is with her.
She said in the video:
“The only time I might get scared is when they say my God is angry with me, that’s the only time I will be shaking. A lot of people have reached out to ask about me, I am perfectly okay, I haven’t wronged anyone, I haven’t done any evil to anyone, so nothing that anyone does will work. I work in line with my God, in fact, he works before me, He’s by my side, I’m protected.”
On Junior Pope and the crew members who also lost their lives, Etiko said:
“It’s not been easy, Nollywood really lost something this time, Nollywood did not lose one or two or three or four, we lost five. It’s so disheartening and painful, but whoever you think you are, or wherever you think God has placed you in life and you forget your God who has made you, your own is gone. I’m not scared because I know who I’m with, I have absolutely nothing to be scared of.”
Meanwhile, John Okafor and Amaechi Muonagor have lost their lives as well this year.
