Kanayo O. Kanayo has advised people to give their first salary to their father rather than their pastors. The popular veteran Nollywood actor made this known in a video shared on his Instagram page with the caption:
“Take your first SALARY to your father for his blessings NOT TO YOUR PASTOR.
And to that Pastor who said it belongs to him in a video in January, did you ever consider, the feeding/ transportation to and fro the office for that month? Where is this in the Bible?
CHRISTIANS WAKE UP. This is not Christianity”
In the video, Kanayo was seen sitting with his first son, Clinton, who had just completed his film management production on set. He was paid N50,000 which he handed to his father in order to fulfil Igbo culture.
Kanayo’s son was seen on his knees receiving blessings from the legendary Nollywood actor. However, rather than keep the entire N50,000, he kept just N500 even though the culture of the Igbo people might have seen K.O.K. keep his son’s entire first salary. He said in part:
“Clinton Onye Eze my son, just concluded a film production management with us and he has earned his first salary, his first salary is N50k for the movie, this is the culture of Ndi Igbo, the first salary of a man, goes to his father.
“All you who are going to your pastors to show your salary is a waste of time, it’s not part of our culture. Only a father can bless his son or daughter. I could also ask you to give me the entire money, it’s not for your pastor.”
According to Kanayo, the idea of a young son telling his father how much he earns is to help teach him financial management.
When Fred Amata saw the video, he reacted: “K.O.K… You are indeed a great man the traditions of our heritage shall never die. The Isoko’s have an equally similar tradition.🔥”.
